Color screen printing
Title: MARILYN 11.29
Dimensions: 91.5 x 91.5cm
The Sunday B. Morning color serigraphs are printed (since 1970, controlled and authorized by Andy Warhol during his lifetime) on museum board with the highest quality archival inks. They are stamped in blue ink on the back: “Published by Sunday B. Morning” and “Fill in your own signature”.
This serigraph comes from the 4th edition (and last known edition, published in 2012 by the publisher) of the series of 10 Marilyns by Andy Warhol. These prints are made from faithful reproductions of the screens used by Andy Warhol in 1967, using the same paper, the same inks and an identical size.

Andy Warhol, American artist born in Pittsburgh in 1928, leader of pop art has been a figurehead of the American avant-garde in New York since the 1960s. Beginning his career in advertising and working as a draftsman, he opted for an androgynous look, dons a platinum blonde wig and takes on the name Andy Warhol (real name Andrew Warhol). He drew his first canvases borrowing motifs from comic strips (Popeye, 1961) or consumer goods labels (Del Monte Peach Half, Coca-Cola, Campbell's Soup). In 1962, Warhol participated in the New Realist exhibition in New York with Roy Lichtenstein and Yves Klein, thus obtaining recognition from the pop art movement. Using screen printing, he developed a series dedicated to celebrities (Liz Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, Jackie Kennedy, Elvis). In many ways, Warhol's art is close to cinema, working for him from 1963 and largely shaping the cinematic avant-garde. He creates the Factory, one of the "trendy" places in New York life. The group The Velvet Underground settled there in its early days. Warhol made several experimental films there. In 1983, Warhol met Keith Haring, he became his mentor. In 1986, he joined forces with Jean-Michel Basquiat, contributing to the revival of expressionism. The artist died in New York in 1987.
