Original lithograph signed by Salvador Dali, produced under his direction in 1984, after his painting Apparition de ma cousine Carolinette sur la plage de Rosas (1934)
Spanish painter and sculptor considered one of the main representatives of surrealism, and one of the most famous painters of the 20th century. The themes he most frequently tackled were dreams, sexuality, food, his wife Gala and religion. "The Persistence of Memory" is one of his most famous surrealist paintings. A very imaginative artist, he showed a notable tendency to narcissism and megalomania which allowed him to hold public attention, but irritated part of the art world, which saw in this behavior a form of publicity which sometimes went beyond his work. . He is the inventor of the paranoid-critical method. Getting closer to Renaissance painting around the age of 45 and drawing inspiration from the scientific developments of his time, he developed his style towards what he called “corpuscular mysticism”. Two museums were dedicated to him during his lifetime, the Salvador Dali Museum and the Dalí Theatre-Museum (which Dalí created himself).
