The one who is nicknamed the father of Op Art (or Optical Art) is actually called Győző Vásárhelyi. Hungarian naturalized French in 1961, Victor Vasarely alone represents a revolution in the History of 20th century Art.

His compositions may seem simplistic, unsophisticated or easily imagined, but the result is a deep reflection on the association of shapes and colors. The elements confront each other, fit together or come together.

Vasarely's geometric patterns inevitably impact our eye. By these successions of forms, it is a feeling of intense energy which emerges on these two-dimensional surfaces. We could even speak of kinetic energy!

In addition to having introduced Optical Art into Modern Art, Vasarely distinguished himself as a graphic designer in major advertising agencies such as Havas and Draeger. And for the anecdote, we even owe him the new version of the Renault logo in 1972. The famous diamond metamorphosed by the artist responds to the problem of dusting off an emblem that is more than 70 years old!
